Overview Scanning Detections DMCA Notices Workflow

Understanding Detections

Detections are URLs where your book was found on piracy sites. Each detection represents a unique URL - if the same URL is found in multiple scans, it's counted as one detection with an increased "times seen" counter.

Detection Details

  • Infringing URL - The normalized URL of the piracy page
  • Raw URL - The original URL as found (may include tracking params)
  • Confidence - How likely this is actually your book (0-100%)
  • Source - Where it was found (Google, Anna's Archive)
  • Times Seen - How many scans found this URL
  • First Seen - When it was first detected
  • Last Seen - Most recent scan that found it

Managing Detections

Reviewing New Detections

  1. Go to Piracy Shield → Detections
  2. Filter by Status: New to see unreviewed items
  3. Click a detection to view the full URL and details
  4. Verify it's actually your book (check confidence score)

Marking False Positives

If a detection isn't actually your book:

  1. Click the detection to open details
  2. Click Mark as False Positive
  3. The detection moves to "Ignored" status
  4. It won't appear in future scans or notice generation

Reassigning to Another Novel

If a detection was attributed to the wrong book:

  1. Open the detection details
  2. Click Reassign Novel
  3. Select the correct novel from the dropdown
  4. The detection moves to the new novel and resets to "New" status

Adding Detections Manually

Found a piracy URL yourself? Add it manually:

  1. Go to Piracy Shield → Detections
  2. Click Add Detection
  3. Select the affected novel
  4. Paste the infringing URL
  5. The system will normalize and deduplicate it automatically

Confidence Scores

The confidence score estimates how likely a detection is actually your book:

Score Range Meaning Recommended Action
80-100% High confidence - title and author match strongly Likely safe to include in DMCA notice
50-79% Medium confidence - partial match Review the URL manually before taking action
0-49% Low confidence - weak match Carefully verify before claiming copyright
Factors Affecting Confidence

Scores are higher when the search result title/snippet contains your exact book title, author name, and common piracy keywords like "epub", "pdf", or "free download".
