Piracy Shield Help

Protect your intellectual property with automated scanning and DMCA takedown notices.

Overview Scanning Detections DMCA Notices Workflow

The Complete Workflow

Here's the full process from detection to removal:

1
Scan for Piracy

Run manual scans or enable auto-scanning. System searches Google for your books on piracy domains.

2
Review Detections

Check each detection. Mark false positives and verify legitimate infringements.

3
Generate DMCA Notice

Select detections and generate a legally-formatted DMCA takedown notice.

4
Attest to Accuracy

Confirm you own the copyright and the notice is accurate. This is a legal requirement.

5
Submit to Google

Copy the notice and submit via Google's DMCA form. Mark as submitted in Story Signal.

6
Confirm Removal

Google processes the request (1-3 weeks). When confirmed, mark as removed.

Weekly Routine

For ongoing protection, we recommend this weekly workflow:

  1. Check the Dashboard - Review new detections from auto-scans
  2. Triage New Detections - Mark false positives, verify legitimate ones
  3. Batch Generate Notices - Create notices for accumulated detections
  4. Submit to Google - Submit all ready notices in one session
  5. Check Submitted Notices - Mark any confirmed removals
Weekly Summary Emails

Enable weekly summary emails in Settings to get a digest of new detections and status changes without logging in.

Settings Configuration

Essential Settings

  • Pen Name - The author name on your book covers (critical for scan accuracy)
  • Legal Name - Your full legal name for DMCA notices
  • Email - Contact email that will appear in Lumen database
  • Address - Required by Google for DMCA submissions

Automation Settings

  • Auto-scan Published - Enable/disable automatic scanning
  • Scan Frequency - How often to scan (7, 14, 30, or 60 days)
  • Google Search - Toggle Google as a scan source
  • Weekly Summary - Enable email digest of activity

Best Practices

Do

  • Keep your pen name updated in Settings for accurate scanning
  • Review detections carefully - high confidence doesn't mean 100%
  • Batch your submissions to Google for efficiency
  • Keep records of submission dates and Google reference IDs
  • Rescan periodically - new piracy sites appear regularly

Don't

  • Don't submit notices for content you don't own
  • Don't claim URLs that are legitimately selling your book
  • Don't expect instant removal - Google takes 1-3 weeks
  • Don't rely solely on scans - pirates use new domains constantly
