What Are Hashtag Groups?

Hashtag groups are saved collections of related hashtags that you can quickly add to any post. Instead of typing the same hashtags over and over, create groups and click to add them.

Why Use Hashtag Groups?

  • Save time - Add 10-30 hashtags with one click
  • Stay consistent - Use the same effective hashtags across posts
  • Organize by purpose - Different groups for different content types
  • Easy updates - Change the group once, updates everywhere you use it

Creating a Hashtag Group

  1. Go to Hashtag Groups
Navigate to Social → Hashtag Groups (or find it in the sidebar).
  2. Click New Group
Click the "New Group" button to open the creation form.
  3. Name Your Group
Give it a descriptive name like "Romance Bookstagram" or "New Release Promo".
  4. Add Hashtags
Enter hashtags one per line or comma-separated. Include the # symbol.
  5. Save
Click Save to create your group.

Example Group: Romance Bookstagram

#romancebooks #bookstagram #romancereader #booklover #romancebookstagram #bookworm #readersofinstagram #bookish #contemporaryromance #romancereads

Using Groups in Posts

When creating or editing a post, you'll see your hashtag groups as clickable chips:

  1. Look for the Hashtag Groups section in the post form
  2. Click a group chip to add its hashtags (chip becomes highlighted)
  3. Click again to remove
  4. View the hashtags in the preview area below the groups
  5. Add custom hashtags in the text field if needed
Tip

You can select multiple groups for a single post. The hashtags will be combined, and duplicates are automatically removed.

Hashtag Best Practices

Quality Over Quantity

Instagram now recommends 3-5 highly relevant hashtags over 30 generic ones. Focus on:

  • Hashtags specific to your book's genre and tropes
  • Community hashtags where your readers hang out
  • Mix of sizes: some popular, some niche

Platform Differences

Platform Recommendation
Instagram 3-5 relevant hashtags (30 max allowed)
TikTok 3-5 trending + niche hashtags
1-2 hashtags maximum
Hashtags less effective; use sparingly
LinkedIn 3-5 professional/industry hashtags
Tip

Update your hashtag groups periodically. Trends change, and what worked 6 months ago may be less effective now.
